Fashion Fingernail Friday!!!!
If you follow me on Instagram (@Haylz_Nailz), you'll know that every Friday is referred to as #fashionfingernailfriday. This is where I find inspiration through designer clothing and turn it into nail art! You can find inspiration for art in almost anything, that's what makes it so fun!
For this week I chose a dress from fashion designer Nanette Lepore's ready to wear 2013 Fall collection! This whole collection was inspired by planet Mars, which I think is so cool and different! Every piece has a very "earthy" look, specifically the piece I chose, which is a teal and green dress. The dress literally looks like "a slice of earth", which is how the designer herself described this collection.

To achieve this look on my nails I used two colors, Kleancolor's 'Fashionista' and 'Neon Aqua'. The first thing you want to do is paint your base with the green color first (fashionista). Then once that has dried, you want to layer the aqua color over it. As that begins to dry, you want to take either a brush or qtip soaked in acetone and drag it across your nail, this will take away some of the blue so you are able to start seeing the green poke through. If after you have done this you still think more green needs to be shown, you can put a little of the color on a brush and go over the nail until you reach the desired look. I also used a black nail art pen to just make sporadic edges around the green, this also helps with the smudging effect. The last thing you want to do is use a matte finish and you've officially completed this awesome look! This is how my turned out....
What do you think???

Watermelon Nails!
Watermelon inspired nails are all the rage this summer, with so many different designs and interpretations, there are endless ways to achieve this look! I tried doing it for the first time and it was WAYYYY more simple to do than I thought. I have created an easy step by step tutorial on how to do watermelon nails!
First here are the colors I used:
First here are the colors I used:
From left to right- Revlon Fuchsia Fever, Kleancolor Chunky Holo Fuchsia, Sinful Color's Innocent, last chance, and snow me white.
1. First thing you want to do is paint your base. For this I used Fuchsia Fever and topped it with Chunky Holo Fuchsia.
2. Next you want to paint the whole tip of your nail white.
3. After the white has begun to dry you can take your light green and paint over the bottom half portion of the white.
4. The last step is the detailing, with your dark green make tiny vertical lines over the light green (it is best to use a small brush to make these lines). For the seeds you need black, I suggest using a nail art pen for this because it makes it super easy to apply.
5. Lastly apply top coat and you're donezo!
It's okay if your detailing (lines and seeds) are not perfect, it only adds to the look and makes it look more real, besides what watermelon has perfectly placed lines and seeds haha!
Here is the final look that you can check out via instagram:

Essie's 'Bikini so Teeny'
Essie never fails to make me and my nails happy campers! 'Bikini so teeny' is the PERFECT blue for the summer! The color is a gorgeous light blue and it goes on so smoothly. I swatched it today and immediately fell in love <3 Even though I loved the look I think it would have looked much better had I applied it over a white base to really make the color pop, but either way this is one shade of blue that doesn't give me the blues!
